"Grow the Economy"
"Create Jobs"
"Balance the Budget"
Ironically, both of the two major US Parties make these claims! But what is their Track Record? Alternatively and simply, what Administrations
have done better in these categories
Amidst another heated election season, we think it is imperative for voters to be critical of their politicians and especially of party dogma.
You know, the one that says that Republicans stand for balancing the budget and cutting the deficit,
and Democrats for creating jobs (yes, yes, Republicans too), and Income inequality and growth… Well, what have they done in the past??
We aim to separate facts from fiction when it comes to actual Presidential records (starting from Truman to Obama) by looking directly at the data. We choose
to visualize and compare change between the start and end of each political two-year cycle for some of the most common economic indicators. (Jump directly to our methodology for the data.)
Our hope is that this will inform the political discourse and spark voters’ curiosity.
